Left: Let’s be honest: this is an ugly duckling of a church. The little bell cote looks like it has just been stuck on as an afterthought. The triangular buttresses are unfortunate, to put it mildly. Right: The church looking towards the east. It has a Norman chancel arch of the very simplest kind. The pews are pretty eighteenth century work. The reading desk is a matching piece and has attractive contrasts inlaid in lighter wood.

Left: The chancel.. It has a wooden communion table rather than a altar and it has a marble top. On the left is a hefty original Norman window. Right: Looking through the chancel arch to the west.

Left: A view to the south east, showing more clearly the charming pews. Above them is a large patch of paintwork. Right: The Church Guide says that several layers of paint have been uncovered. This looks to be quite old but nothing can be distinguished,.

Left: The original Norman window in the north wall of the chancel. There is painting right into the splay and we can be sure that the mediaeval church was painted extensively. It never stood a chance of surviving in a church that was so clearly re-vamped during the Jacobean era when this church, like so many, was gentrified and made austere. Right: This picture from the north west shows a church cruelly used by the centuries.  It is dominated by those blasted buttresses - on each side of the west window - and with only one window on each wall presents a stark picture. For all that, after nine hundred years, like Elton John it is “still standing” and deserves our love.. To their great credit, the CCT supplies just that.
